Derby is my new life form, the extra beat in my heart that gets me through the day. I never thought I'd find an enjoyment of a sport as much as I Love Derby! Not sure if it's the family bond of all the derby sisters, or the joy of knocking a few ladies around. Or maybe it's my 3-5 hours of quality "mom" time away from the kids that I really enjoy.

I'd been keeping tabs on the local derby league, Electric City Roller Grrrlz, for about a year. My friend Katy ended up joining in September, and convinced me to come along in November to watch a practice. That one practice was all I needed to jump start me onto my way into Derby Land. I was able to borrow a pair of skates from a derby sister to get my feet back under me. Granted I hadn't been skating in oh.... 5 or 6 years, and that was on roller blades. I was probably in grade school the last time I strapped on a pair of quad skates.
But it's just like riding a bike, you only really get rusty. It comes back to you, and after watching a few youtube videos, I was teaching myself how to cross-over. I'm still currently a "fresh meat" derby girl, meaning I'm a newbie on the team.

There's a series of skills you have to pass to be certified as a true derby girl. Properly falling, stopping, being able to glide down the straight-away on the track on just one foot..... and my biggest challenge of all is skating 25 laps in 5 minutes! There's also a fairly large rules and regulations book to read to learn about proper hitting/blocking, zones on the body to hit, and penalties for improperly blocking (ect...) The handbook is actually longer than my employee manual at the hotel. Go figure.
We held our first Inter-league Exhibition Scrimmage on Sunday to show Great Falls what Derby is all about. And there was a fairly big turn out for the show! Our first actual Derby bout is in Billings on May 7th. We are also going to be having a bout in Helena on May 21st. Oh, I forgot to mention there are several Roller Derby teams across Montana. Billings has two teams, Missoula has a rocking team, the Flathead Valley has a team, and Helena is just putting together their first team. Plus all across the country are derby teams.

Sorry it has been forever since I've updated. :/ Kids are keeping me busy- but you can always find me on facebook to keep up to date with us.

We had a wonderful Halloween this year. Weather was PERFECT all weekend as we celebrated. Friday started off with a quick stroll downtown to Inspire Portraits to get the kiddos pictures taken in their costumes. Then on Saturday Tim and I had a Poker Party for our friends. It was a lot of fun, we played for candy. :) And then with today being Halloween we got to stop by friends and family's house's for the whole day to show off my beautiful kids. :) We ended our day by trick or treating around Nana's block- well Harlee and I at least did!

Christmas has come and gone again for another year. We had a wonderful Christmas sharing with Family and Friends. Tim got a great surprise of his brother Ronnie showing up Sunday Morning from San Diego. He hasn't been up since our wedding back in 2007. Harlee and Nicholas absolutly love him to death! Is it a bad thing when Ronnie tells me that Nic is identitcle to Tim at the same age- looks and attitude? ha! But I've had a wonderful time getting to chat with Ronnie and find out more about him (and tim as a kid)

We spent Christmas Eve with my Parents... got a bbq, Cake Decorating Lessons (woot!), Lots of toys for the kiddos.... Tim got a new Mitsubishi Hat...and lots of other goodies! Then Christmas Morning we spent a little time at Tim's moms- kids scored big again. Have to go through all the old toys to make room for the new. We also got to go out and shoot some pool with Ronnie- Him and Tim are very much alike. Hopefully it won't be another three years before he can visit again!

So Tim and I have decided we want to make another trip back down to Walt Disney World... we've set a goal of having enough money saved up for Harlee's 5th Birthday. We'll start saving come the new year. I think by that time Both of the kid's will be old enough to enjoy it. Nic will be 3 1/2 and Harlee turning 5. I remember going down when I turned 5...or was it 6? Oh well! It will be a perfect time to celebrate!

Nicholas is just.... hard to shop for. he's stuck at a size of 24months to 2t... size 7 or 8 shoe... he likes cars, dinosaurs...
We can always use shelving or organizational storage.

Our DVD/VHS player has worn out... we could use one of those for the sake of the kids. =)

A bit late, but hope everyone had a happy halloween. It was kinda a bum day around the steele house. I had to work the morning, the kids are sick and tim ended up having to close Domino's. Didn't even get one trick or treater.....

Miss harlee did enjoy wearing her Princess outfit the past couple of days. Nic never liked the dragon costume. Guess we'll just have to put it away. Poor little guys are both sick with something. Hasn't been too nice around here. I did get to go out with friends for a couple hours.

Not too much else is exciting in our house lately. Trying to make it through my job and tim's two jobs anymore consumes most of our time. Keep your eyes out for holiday wishlist for the steele family coming up in the next few weeks if anyone is interested. =)

Ok, I have to rant. I am sick of all these people who buy a digital SLR and think they are amazing photographers. NOOOOO. 99.99% of the time they are not. they just point and shoot. They don't know anything about the lighting or the timing...ya know. It just irks me, there's all these little photography businesses popping up. What's annoying is when it's freaking high schoolers who've done maybe one intro to photography class. Whatever. You get what you pay for right?

Now... I know several people who are indeed TRUE photographers. They've studied how to take photos... spent time, money, and effort. Know the trials and errors of what they are doing. Now I applaud them for their amazing jobs!

So I'm a slacker on the blog, I know. What can I say? I'm more busy than anything. work, kids, work...cleaning...ya know the norm. Trying to get the house cooled down. Tim didn't turn the a/c on at all, so I've had it on since 3:30p ish. I'm waiting for Tim to get off... again. It's my day off tomorrow, so I can be up late. Although I'm probably gonna hit the sack soon. I can harldy keep my eyes open past 11:30pm anymore.

Maybe tomorrow I can unbury my bedroom. I have stacks of clean clothes everywhere. I seem to get everything washed okay, but then putting it away is where i go downhill. Maybe its because I don't have enough room for all mine and Tim's stuff. Our dressers are crammed and so is the tiny closet. and that I need more hangers. I'm anxious for my order from Pure Romance to get in tomorrow. New catalogs are in it! 40 pages....which is almost 2 times as big as the old ones. Hopefully it will pick up soon- everyone says they want to have a party.....but no one actually has one. Thats okay. I'll live. Just frustrated.

Nic is toddling around quite well. He likes to follow mom with one of the busted cell phones and hold it up to his ear and babble in it. Definatly is following Harlee around quite a bit and his favorite thing to do is turn off the TV during a good part in whatever show you're watching. OH my... can't keep my eyes open anymore. Harlee is well...harlee. She's so hard to explain most of the time. Loves her kitchen and baby dolls, and locking her little brother in the closet. hehe But thats another story.

Oh it's been a while yet again since I've last blogged. We've been busy. Trip to Denver, spending lots of quality family time together, Enjoying the summer... It's been so nice outside lately we've been out playing in the yard, enjoying the sunshine.

Our trip to Denver was GREAT!! I had a blast, and I think Tim is quite impressed with the city. And all the cars he likes that are there. We've decided in maybe 5 ish years to move there in a few years. He wants to go to the Automotive college they have. There's so much more opportunity down there for us. We also took tim's niece Tylena down with us. She had a blast too, and was a big help with the kids. I got to visit with Abby, and go to some of my few shopping places. It was a ton of fun being in the big city again.

We got to have another week and a half off after we got home from Denver because our trip plans to KC had changed. SO we got to spend some quality family time. I know the kids had a blast having us both home everyday. The house is definitely a mess right now though... Tim and I got to sneak a weekend in of camping without any kids. That was really nice too. But onto the photos! they seem to have loaded backwards... oh well..

Well this white nasty stuff is back again. And it's really wet and heavy this time. I got atleaste one broken branch that I've seen so far. And a sad looking bush. Plus the neighbor's tree has got a good lean to it. But it's AWESOME snowball/snow man material!!! There may have been a snowball fight outside of my house this evening.... maybe. ;)

My little girl used her potty today!! I'm so freakin excited!! She was brushing her teeth, and was watching me use the potty, so then she pulled at her diaper, and I set her on the big girl potty and then hers, and back to the big one, and finally her potty! And she peed in it! Hehehe Let the potty training begin. ;) Oh.. and my phone is kerput for right now... charging port is finally shot. I will be heading up to verizon monday to figure something out. :( But that is all my news for now. :)

So Easter has come and gone already! We're almost halfway through the month! How crazy. Kid's are just growing like weeds... Harlee's vocabulary has probably double or tripled in the past couple weeks. It's amazing. Nic is cruising all over. He loves standing up and climbing on things. Weather has warmed up but they are calling for snow again tonight. Oye. So close. Got a couple more weeks til Cruisin' the Drag!! I think the lancer is going in again. Camaro definatly won't be. Need to fix the front end and still paint it. Definatly work in process... still. hehe. Going to be a busy next couple of weeks.

I am finally up to full time again at the hotel since we are busy! It's just lovely. Not that I have much of my check after everything is taken out of it. Tim's been working his butt off too. Don't see to much of each other right now.. we did get to go see the new Fast & Furious movie couple weeks ago. GREAT movie! We're now just anxiously awaiting our trip to Kansas City in June. Well, I need to head off to bed so I can get up in the morning. TTFN

Is it really spring? I sure hope so. I'm enjoying the nice weather. It's nice not to have to bundle the kiddos up (too much). We enjoyed the sun (and wind) Saturday cleaning up the yard and attempting the garage. well, that was tim's doing, I dont go in there. Its scary. So's the car in there. hehe

So just not too much to update today. feel like I'm up entirely too early after having had to work until midnight last night. It just drains me working those afternoons. the durango went into get fixed on monday...i cannot wait to get my rig back. The crv has been nice to have, but I like my big one. Tim and his buddy matt started ripping the old walls out of the basement, so he can put the new studs in. Kinda interesting...

So another day another dollar... or so they say. We should have our hefty tax return on Friday. I'm crossing my fingers. That means we can catch up on EVERYTHING and pay my parents back. And get the durango fixed... And we're finishing our basement too. I'm ready to not be in the hole anymore. It sucks.

We're planning a trip to Kansas City this summer.. with a stop in Denver along the way to see Abby. I'm ready for the trip...well getting there I guess. I booked our hotel for Denver... just need to find one for the return trip. we're staying with Tim's family when we are down there. I hope the kids tolerate the car ride. It will be long for them. I'm excited to see Abby though.

What else is new with us? Not too much. Just chugging away at our jobs... not looking so hot for th Bozeman prospective....long story I dont care to share right now. But I figure something will come through eventually.

I had a wonderful birthday! We went out to dinner at Chili's and then went to the Brick to celebrate with all my friends! I had a lot of drinks bought for me. It was AWESOME! I had fun... Tim's just a party pooper. But I won't get into that tonight.

Nicholas is scooting quite a bit. He's very quick too. Kinda scary. And miss Harlee has learned how to climb into the crib . Was not expecting to see her in there the other morning. It was kinda cute though.

We don't have anything special planned for Valentine's day, since I work the day and tim works the night... Typical. But we did have monday off together. That was nice. Spent some time furniture shopping. We need a new bed, and since we're gonna hve the money for it...we needed to go look. Hope everyone's february is going good! Enjoy the picture from my b day. :)

I have been enjoying the nice weather we've had the past few days... not ready for it to go back into the deep freeze. I'm ready for spring now. I've had my fun in the snow. But I LOVE spring and summer. But I can't wish the days away too fast. Harlee turns 2 next week!! How scary is that?! I've ordered her a cute little tinkerbell cake and we're gonna go swimming at the hotel on Sunday afternoon with some of her little buddies...and some of Tim and my friends.

We've been staying busy working.. Haven't seen much of each other lately. Getting to be about time for a break though. Tim's getting worn out with work.. Sunday was complete overtime for him... 9 1/2 hours. It will be nice on the paycheck though.

We're gonna go out for my birthday. I'm really excited. A lot of our friends are going with us up to a local bar... to properly celebrate my 21st birthday a year late. ;) My new years resolution... NO BABIES!! haha. Good one, right?

As much as I am not racist... I'm having issues getting used to the thought of a black president. Maybe it's just me. We'll see. Tim and I might go and put a little of our big ol' tax return towards a new rifle or something. we'll see what happens though. I think in our heads we've spent that tax return over and over and over again.

Its amazing how time flies anymore. My baby girl will be two at the end of the month..and I will turn 22 as well. YIKES!!

We went out to tim's dads place last night. His step sister and her kiddos are up from Wyoming so it was fun to visit with them. Our kids got lots of fun presents (we did xmas late with them) and tim and I got some cool stuff too.

Work is comepletely insane today. There's the rodeo and huge bball tourny in town this weekend. I like my weekday mornings better than these crazy weekends. Atleast the weather is fairly nice. For now.

So i think i'm gonna do a tinkerbell themed bday party for miss harlee. She deserves it. She's muh baby girl. hehe. Not sure what the plans are yet though.

And all through the hotel...it was fairly unbusy. No complaints here. Everyone is friendly, going out to enjoy their evenings with family... I shall be doing that tomorrow, since it seems both Tim and I are stuck working today. Just more presents tomorrow, right?

We all have been enjoying the few days leading up to Christmas at the Steele household. Making cookies, wrapping presents, shoveling the walk.... WE'RE HAVING A WHITE CHRISTMAS!! it's a bloody miracle. I can't remember the last one we had with snow. It's just wonderful. I just may have to go sledding tomorrow. And take Harlee. That will be fun.

I'm terrible at keeping up with this blog. Not having internet is the biggest reason. LOTS of news on the Steele Family Home Front. We're moving to Bozeman come the new year!!! I've accepted a position as General Manager of the Fairfield Inn down there. It's gonna be great. We're very excited about the move. Sad to be leaving our friends and families here, but I'll be making lots of more money.

Nicholas is now 5 months.. wearing 9month-12 month clothes, a size 4 shoe....and is HUGE. On the 18th of Nov for his 4 month checkup he was 17lbs 12oz and 28 3/4 inches long. He loves baby food..especially sweet potatoes. Nic can also sit up fairly well by himself and quite enjoys his jumperoo.

Harlee is a little hellian. She's absolutly loving getting into all the Christmas decorations. She's currently helping nana decorate the tree. It sounds dangerous.

Not too much else is happening with us. Just trying to get everything sorted out to move. Take care! And if I dont get back on before Christmas.... Have a Merry Christmas!!

So here I am again. Borrowing someone's wi-fi in the neighborhood. Finally found a connection after living here almost 5 months. LOL What a crazy week. It's HALLOWEEN on Friday! I'm so freaking excited. I love getting to dress up and pretend I'm someone else. Guess its one part of me that hasn't grown up yet. ha.

Golden Corral burnt down today. :( Tim and I are dissapointed. We would have rather mcdonalds burnt down over the weekend....there's atleast 2 more of them. Though we don't frequent Golden Corral....it was still a good place to eat at! Oh well. We'll live I guess.

I'm just waiting for him to get home. Still half an hour til Domino's closes, but He say's they've been dead all night. They just have to mop and lock up. Thats good. He's been so busy there lately...especially with all those lovely drivers he has. There are a few good ones...but the rest just seem to waste his time.

I guess thats all I ahve to comment on for right now. TTFN ta ta for now

Has it really been two weeks since I posted last? Sheesh. Shame on me. I've been working my butt of though, and I am not complaining. I really enjoy my new job and am loving getting BIG paychecks again. It's been so hard to make everything stretch to all the bills the past few months.

Fall has officially hit. The leaves are GOREGOUS on most trees...and there is that fall crisp in the air. I think I'm in Heaven. Except for hte fact that the first day it snowed Tim wrecked my durango. Nothing too bad, but it's bumper is pretty scraped up and bent back. And my windshield cracked the same day as well. It's crazy.

Nicholas is in love with the jumperoo. He bounces and just chills in it. Harlee likes to try and swing him in it. Crazy girl. I'm excited about getting to take her trick or treating next week. I think we are gonna go downtown and hit that up, and once tim is off work, we will go around to all the grandparents houses. Still haven't found a good costume for Nicholas yet. I'll probably just stick him in one of the halloween onsies we have. Not too much else is new. I need to make more sugar cookies. :)

And nicholas is freeking huge! 17lbs and is 3 months old. Where did the summer go? I can't believe its supposed to snow on Thursday. But i'm ready for it.

We're slowly getting ready for Halloween. Harlee is gonna be a dragon...not a clue what Nicholas is gonna be. He's growing too quickly to buy anything now. I'll wait until right before Halloween. We're decorating our basement for a party we're gonna have. It's covered in spiderwebs right now. It's neat looking. I'm gonna be a "mafia mama". i love halloween.

Here it is Saturday again. Where is time going so fast? It's the end of the summer already. I cannot believe it. But I am completely ready for fall to be here. and Halloween. My favorite holiday. Harlee's gonna be a dragon. And i haven't quite found the right outfit for mr. nicholas yet. I can't wait to decorate for Halloween. I need new halloween lights and some pumpkins...but those are gonna have to wait for a while.

I did get a new job though. I now work at the Fairfied Inn. It's a lot closer to my house than having to drive up the hill to the airport everyday. I'm still trying to convince tim to get another job or something else cause he can't be a Pizza man for the rest of his life. Ha!

Nicholas is a BIG boy!! Already at 2 months he's 14lbs 8oz and 24 in long. He's a lump to carry around.
In this picture he's just passed out in his crib! It's crazy as can be.

And I'm so excited it's finally fall outside! And Halloween is just around the corner. I'm trying to figure out what to do for the kid's costumes. There's so many to choose from, but it sucks having to be picky on finding WARM ones. haha Anywhoos

So yesterday I got completely fed up with my long hair. I took scissors myself to it. It doesn't look too bad actually. I'm impressed with my hair cutting abilities. LOL

Not too much else is new. Tim's got today off, and I left Harlee at home with him while I ran off to check my email. It's cold out again though. Well I'm off for the time being. Talk to you all later!

A New Week

Well what a way to start a Monday. It's still cold and rainy outside. I had to be at work at 7am... instead of the usual 8am. Not a big deal, but still. Hopefully the rain lets up soon...it's getting slightly old. Don't get me wrong, I love the rain..but not when it's extremely cold like today. As of right now, *10:05am* it's 38degrees. Sheesh.

What are my plans for the week...well lets see. Work today- maybe hang out with Kara and the twins tonight. Tomorrow I have to go with Tim to court because of this Bogus ticket the "wonderful" city of great falls has stuck him with.....thats about it for my week. I might have to bake some goodies if I get the spare time to.

Where on earth did the summer go? It's cold and rainy out! A whole 47 degrees! Sheesh! I reminded Tim to dress the kiddos warm today...I even pulled out warm clothes for mr. nicholas. Tim's on his own with Harlee. Oh well.

It's a slow weekend at the airport. It's Labor Day weekend, but we have 17 reservations the whole weekend. It's deader than dead. I honestly think I've searched almost the whole internet...well not really, but it seems like it.
